Dacia Hipster concept unveiled – Small electric city runabout presented

The new Dacia Hipster concept car is a radical design for urban mobility with an electric car. It is still unclear whether the design will eventually become a production model.

On October 6, Dacia unveiled its latest concept car, the Dacia Hipster. The small vehicle shows a possible future of a small and inexpensive entry into electromobility and presents a daring design.

  • Small city runabout with space for four people
  • Angular design with a focus on robustness
  • Simple and practical interior
  • Possible outlook for a new spring 2027?

Dacia's study reduces an electric car to its basics, continuing Dacia's philosophy of limiting itself to what is necessary.

Dacia Hipster – Design

At first glance, the Dacia Hipster is simply a small box with glass surfaces, a reduction in design that is probably in the manufacturer's interest. With its compact dimensions of 3 meters long, 1.55 meters wide and 1.53 meters high, it is smaller than it looks. Above all, the angular design ensures that it looks more robust than expected.

Despite the simple box shape with almost no overhangs, there are one or two design features to set accents. For example, the belts as a replacement for the door handles catch the eye, and the many unpainted parts of the body also make the Dacia Hipster an eye-catching vehicle. The design is completed by the luminaire design in pixel look at the front and rear.

At the rear, Dacia combines design with cost savings and has placed the taillights behind the tailgate so that they do not require additional glazing. The other aspect of everyday usability and flexibility is also very important due to the split tailgate.

The unpainted bumpers and the protective strips on the sides provide even more robustness in the appearance of the Dacia Hipster.

Dacia Hipster – Interior

Inside the Dacia Hipster, the Dacia design philosophy continues. Despite the small dimensions, there are four seats and a variable trunk from 70 to 500 liters, depending on the seat configuration. Otherwise, the bright cockpit greets you with spartan charm. Except for a small digital instrument, there is only one other phone holder as equipment at the front. The rest of the cabin is subordinate to everyday usability with storage areas and compartments.

Dacia Hipster – Will it come as a production model?

The current study in its radical form will most likely not appear as a production model. Rather, the hipster serves to present Dacia's latest ideas and designs for the future of electric small cars or city cars. With a focus on cost reduction and suitability for everyday use, the Dacia Hipster is intended to fill exactly the gap of inexpensive electric small cars for daily mobility, which has often been denounced in recent years.

It seems more likely that the ideas will be integrated into the new Dacia Spring, which is likely to be launched in 2027. It is still unclear whether the Spring will also be called Hipster, but a name change is more likely to fit into Dacia's current scheme with Bigster, Duster or Jogger.
